Satiating Snack

My 4 year old daughter is hungry 100% of the time. It’s almost gotten to the point that I’m concerned that she’s not getting everything she needs at times. A lot of times we feel hungry when our bodies need more fat. Fat is a very key nutrient that has gotten a bad rap in times past but is key for healthy gut and brain function.

Having trouble going #2? Eat more fat. Coconut oil, avocado, bacon, the skin and dark meat of chicken. My doctor strongly supports the ketogenic diet where carbs are kept to a bare minimum and fat is consumed in large amounts. There are actually recipes on Pinterest called “fat bombs” with the goal of getting MORE fat into the diet.

I’m going to share this recipe I came up with in an attempt to get more fat into my little ones diet. I’ll try to give an update after a week and see if this helps with satiating little appetites. I must say, I tasted this and while yogurt is not Paleo, you could easily sub coconut milk yogurt and this will be a snack staple in our diets from now on!

Recipe:

1 tbsp softened coconut oil

1 tbsp almond butter

1/2 tbsp honey

3 tbsp Greek yogurt or coconut milk yogurt

Sprinkle of cinnamon

Mix well mashing any lumps and eat as snack, breakfast or before bed.
