I have been doing a little spring cleaning and found these curtains that we used in Jeanette’s baby room. Every now and again I get a Snow White streak and I feel like baking. I picture that I am Doris Day and sing, bake, sew or crochet. It is totally my element.
I’ve heard of a lot of people doing curtain skirts lately and being that yellow and white is one of my favorite color combos, I decided instead of giving these to consignment, I’d try out a little simple skirt sew. I am going to keep it pretty simple, there are probably a million skirt tutorials on YouTube if you get stuck trying this one at home.
With a piece of elastic measure your waist (essentially just as tight as you’d want to wear it)
From where the rod usually inserts, measure how long you want the skirt plus 2 inches (this will get folded over and sewn), then cut off the excess material.
Sew the two panels together on one side, fold down the edge opposite from the rod insert 2″ and pin and sew. Now put a safety pin in one end of the elastic (it helps to feed the elastic through the sewn 2″ band).
Feed it through and sew the other side together (go slowly at the thickest part near the elastic).
This skirt is high quality and totally fun, I’m no expert, but it is beautiful and I will be wearing this one again and again!
